Role Reversal While it is a known fact that lighting is essential to photography, a lot of times artificial light is used as a substitute for natural sunlight. Although it doesn't seem like it, this shot was taken at 7 in the evening. With a speedlight and some makeshift blinds, this looks like it was taken no later than sunset. To add drama to the shot, old venetian blinds were placed 3 feet in front of a speedlight to get the shadow lines. Taking more than two dozen shots, it was not an easy effect to pull off. Good lighting and dependable gear made it possible.
